What is the meniscus?


The meniscus are cartilage rings found on both the inside and outside of the knee. They sit between the femur (thigh bone) and tibia (shin bone), and act as shock absorbers in the knee. In addition, they provide some stability to the joint. Apparently not enough stability as Gerrit tore his in a basketball game on Monday night. He's scheduled for surgery sometime on Friday. Looks like his vacation on Cape Cod is pretty much guaranteed now to be nothing but sitting on the porch drinking G&Ts. Men....
